Emirates Vehicle Gate (evg.ae) lets you check and pay traffic fines for Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates (Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah) using Quick Search — no login needed.
Dubai fines are handled separately through RTA or Dubai Police, not EVG.
Which Portal Do You Actually Need?
This is where most confusion online comes from. Here’s the real breakdown:
| System | Emirates covered | Primary use |
|---|---|---|
| Emirates Vehicle Gate (EVG) | Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, RAK, UAQ, Fujairah | Fine inquiry & payment, vehicle registration, insurance status |
| TAMM | Abu Dhabi | Abu Dhabi government services; shares the same fine database as EVG |
| MOI UAE Portal / App | Federal (all emirates except Dubai-internal fines) | Alternative federal app, useful for Northern Emirates fines |
| RTA Dubai | Dubai only | Salik, parking, RTA-issued fines |
| Dubai Police | Dubai only | Radar/speeding and red-light fines issued by Dubai Police |
If you drive only in Dubai, EVG generally won’t show your fines — check RTA and Dubai Police instead.
3 Ways to Search on EVG (No Login Required)
- Go to evg.ae, select Pay Traffic Fines, then Quick Search.
- Choose your search method:
- Traffic Code Number (TCN) — found on your Mulkiya (vehicle registration card); pulls up all violations tied to your driving record.
- Plate Number — enter the emirate, plate code, and plate number exactly as shown on your registration.
- Driving Licence Number — useful if a violation is tied to you as a driver rather than a specific vehicle.
- Complete the security check and submit — outstanding fines display with violation type, date, location, and amount.
Paying a Fine Once You’ve Found It
Select the fines you want to settle and pay by credit or debit card — payment processes instantly with a digital receipt. Keep this receipt for registration renewal checks or in case a fine is later contested.
Are Discounts Real, or Just a Rumor? (And Which Emirate You’re In Matters)
Abu Dhabi Police runs a standing scheme called “Pay Early, Gain Surely,” and Sharjah runs its own separate, equivalent scheme — same percentages, but issued independently by Sharjah Police, not copied from Abu Dhabi:
- 35% off if paid within 60 days of the violation
- 25% off if paid between 60 days and 1 year
- Serious violations (reckless driving, DUI, red-light jumping, and similar) are excluded from both tiers, in both emirates
A “50% discount” rumor has circulated online — Abu Dhabi Police has explicitly and publicly denied this; no blanket 50% scheme exists.
Discounts for the other Northern Emirates are governed independently by each local police force or occasional MOI-wide campaigns — always check the exact percentage shown on your payment screen rather than assuming it matches Abu Dhabi or Sharjah’s rate.
Either way, a discount reduces the fine amount only — it doesn’t touch black points.
Black Points and “Non-Payable” Fines
Fines carrying black points work differently from a standard monetary fine: once a violation crosses a black-point threshold, it’s flagged as non-payable online until the points are transferred from your vehicle to your driving licence.
Traditionally this meant a mandatory visit to a police station with your Emirates ID and driving licence — that’s still true in most of the UAE, though Abu Dhabi’s TAMM app has recently added an in-app option to handle part of this transfer, reducing (but not always eliminating) the need for an in-person visit.
If you’re checking a fine on EVG and it shows as locked or non-payable, this is almost always why.
If you’re planning a vehicle registration renewal soon, check both your fines and points balance beforehand — unpaid fines and unresolved black points can both block renewal.
Disputes and System Delays
- Disputing a fine: EVG is only a processing and inquiry portal — disputes go through the issuing emirate’s police department or prosecution body, generally within 30 days, backed by evidence such as dashcam footage. The current legal basis is Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024 on Traffic Regulation.
- Fine not appearing at all: double check you’re searching the right system — a Dubai-issued fine won’t appear on EVG regardless of search method.
- Paid fine still showing as unpaid: cross-department sync can take 24–48 hours. Keep your digital receipt, and call the EVG helpline at 600 588 888 if it hasn’t updated after two business days.
