Which Portal Do You Actually Need?

Are Discounts Real, or Just a Rumor? (And Which Emirate You’re In Matters)

- 35% off if paid within 60 days of the violation
- 25% off if paid between 60 days and 1 year

A “50% discount” rumor has circulated online — Abu Dhabi Police has explicitly and publicly denied this; no blanket 50% scheme exists.
Discounts for the other Northern Emirates are governed independently by each local police force or occasional MOI-wide campaigns — always check the exact percentage shown on your payment screen rather than assuming it matches Abu Dhabi or Sharjah’s rate.
Either way, a discount reduces the fine amount only — it doesn’t touch black points.
Black Points and “Non-Payable” Fines
Fines carrying black points work differently from a standard monetary fine: once a violation crosses a black-point threshold, it’s flagged as non-payable online until the points are transferred from your vehicle to your driving licence.
Traditionally this meant a mandatory visit to a police station with your Emirates ID and driving licence — that’s still true in most of the UAE, though Abu Dhabi’s TAMM app has recently added an in-app option to handle part of this transfer, reducing (but not always eliminating) the need for an in-person visit.
